Apart from multi-tenancy, every plan includes every feature. The limits above are the only difference.

You need a commercial licence when you use Kylth for commercial work: client projects, company infrastructure, or anything that earns revenue.

Buy and install a licence

  1. Buy a licence at manager.kylth.com and download the licence file.
  2. In Kylth, open Settings → Licence.
  3. Under Install a licence, choose the file in Licence file, or paste its text into Or paste its contents.
  4. Select Install licence.

The licence takes effect straight away; Kylth doesn’t restart. The page then shows the licence, its plan and its limits.

How the licence is checked

A licence file is a small signed file. It states who it’s licensed to, the plan, its limits and, for a yearly licence, its expiry date. Kylth checks the signature against a key built into each release.

  • No licence server. Kylth never contacts Kylth, or anyone else, to check a licence. It works on servers with no outbound internet access, and nothing breaks if manager.kylth.com is unreachable.
  • Revocation ships with releases. Each Kylth release carries a list of licences it refuses, for example refunded ones. A revoked licence stops working only after you upgrade to a release that lists it.
  • The clock only moves forward. Kylth remembers the latest date it has seen, so setting the server’s clock back doesn’t extend a licence.

The installed licence file is kept at /opt/kylth/licenses/kylth.license.

When limits apply

Limits are checked only when you add something: a host, a user, an organisation, or an invitation. Nothing that already exists is switched off. If you go over a limit, for example because a licence expired, everything you have keeps working, and you can’t add more until you’re back under it.

When you hit a limit, Kylth says which one, for example:

The Free tier allows 1 user. Install a licence in Settings → Licence to add more. Everything that already exists keeps working.

Renewal and expiry

  • Renewing. A yearly licence renews each year. After each renewal, download the renewed licence file from manager.kylth.com and install it the same way.
  • Expiring. In its last 30 days, a yearly licence shows as expiring.
  • Grace period. For 14 days after the expiry date, the paid limits still apply.
  • After that, the Free tier applies until you install a renewed licence. Your projects keep running.
  • Upgrading to Lifetime. A yearly licence can be upgraded to Lifetime at manager.kylth.com for €600, which is the Lifetime price less €399 for the current year.

A Lifetime licence doesn’t expire.

Replace or remove a licence

To replace a licence, install the new file the same way. The page then reads Replace the licence. Remove licence returns Kylth to the Free tier.
